Ceiling fan pulls
Findings: Ceiling fan pull kit from Toika
Bridges. Parts include: Brass tube 2 1/16" long, chain is 5 3/4"
long, with attachment so it can be added to any ceiling fan, and two 24K gold
plated end caps - one closed ended, the other with hole for chain to go thru.
To make them you will need:
3/16" hollow stainless mandrel
5mm & 6.5mm diamond core drill bit (Rio Grande)
tubing cutter
dapping punches
Make your bead on the mandrel in the length you desire up to 2" long. Anneal and remove from mandrel. Using the smaller core bit, gently under running water using a cordless dremel ream the bead until you can get the 6.5mm bit to fit. Switch drill bits and gently drill with the large bit until the brass tube will fit. Dry all parts then place the bead on the brass tube and if there is any extra tube sticking out, take a marker and mark a cut line so the tube is a hair bigger than the bead. Use a tubing cutter to cut the tube. Use a dapping punch slightly larger than the tube to enable the tip of the end cap to fit the tube. (Don't flare it too much because you want a snug fit). Take the tube and place end cap with the hole in it into the tube. Gently tap the end cap into place. Remove one end connector of the chain and place it thru the hole in the end cap and then replace the connector. Place the bead on the tube then the other end cap. Gently tap it into place.
That's all there is too it! It might sound like a lot of work but it goes quickly and the finished product looks great!
